Serious fashion goals

From designer labels to vintage threads, Paris and London's shopping scene will answer all your fashion prayers.

Shop for that chic Parisian style

Start your morning in one of the world’s chicest capitals on the iconic Champs-Élysées. Find the latest trends at high-street favorites, visit the recently opened Galeries Lafayette Champs-Élysées and style yourself in the city’s sleek look with French brands, from Longchamp and Lacoste, to Louis Vuitton.

Next, visit Avenue Montaigne to get up close to high-end fashion pieces and fancy window displays. One of Paris’ poshest shopping areas, you’ll find the likes of Chanel, Gucci, Saint Laurent, and Christian Dior lining this street.

Carry on the haute-couture fun at Place Vendôme – the place to shop for glitzy jewelry and luxurious watches – which was built on the orders of Louis XIV.

The nearby Rue Saint-Honoré is also home to an array of upscale stores and boutiques, as well as plenty of cafes if you’re in need of a shopping siesta.

Some of Paris’ most-loved department stores can be found on Boulevard Haussmann. A catwalk for French fashionistas, the flagship Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann and historic Printemps Paris Haussmann are the perfect spots to get some Parisian style inspo (and arty snaps of the Belle Epoque interiors).

Alternatively, take a trip to Paris' first ever department store Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche which opened in 1852. It's a well-kept secret among locals!

Afterwards, make a beeline for the charming Marais district – undoubtedly, the trendiest area of the city. Nestled among the stylish boutiques and vintage stores is Parisian favorite Merci, housing cool concepts by young designers. Top tip: look for the cute Fiat out front!

If you’re planning a trip during Paris Fashion Week (Sep 23-Oct 1), strut your stuff at fashion-focused events across the city.

Discover the latest London trends

Make your first stop Coal Drops Yard, just a short walk from St Pancras International station. This canalside hangout offers an edgy mix of statement stores and one-off boutiques for loyal followers of the latest trends.

Next, head over to world-famous Oxford Street for the ultimate #fashiongoals experience. This mile-long shopping area is home to more than 300 stores; get to grips with London’s street style at fashion giants AllSaints, ZARA, Primark, and Nike, as well as Selfridge’s.

Take a wander down adjoining Regent Street, where you’ll find iconic department store Liberty, and carry on into St James's for futuristic fashion trove Dover Street Market

Afterwards, drop by the cool area of Carnaby. The epicenter of decades of fashion revolution, this quirky neighborhood is the place to become acquainted with British brands – find trendy activewear at SweatyBetty or slick polo shirts in Ben Sherman. And don’t forget to pose for a selfie underneath the famous Carnaby Street arch!

Stop off for a bite to eat at nearby Kingly Court – an alfresco courtyard serving up plenty of delicious options – or grab a cocktail at 1940s-inspired Cahoots.

London’s markets also offer a great range of alternative fashion. Visit Camden Market to hunt for vintage threads and unusual accessories, or soak up east London’s fashion scene while mingling with trendsetters at Spitalfields Market and Brick Lane Market

Finish the day with a cutting-edge fashion exhibition at the V&A. Highlights include Mary Quant (until Feb 16) and Tim Walker (from Sep 21).
